Additional Info

The first Minnesota State Boys’ Hockey Tournament was played in 1945.  Since that first tournament, there have been 33 different schools that have brought home championship trophies.  This select group of  schools includes champions in all formats of the State Tournament including the short lived tier II tourney and the current two-class format.  The schools are represented on the ice of the St. Paul Civic Center where the tournament was held for 23 years from 1976 through 1998.  Only the old St Paul Auditorium hosted the tournament  longer than the Civic Center/24 years 1945 through 1968.

Championship teams are represented once even though some schools have won multiple titles. Players in the dark sweaters represent schools who won a championship from 1945 through 1998.  (1998 was the last tournament at the Civic Center.)   The players in the light sweaters represent schools who won a championship from 1999 through 2015.
