War Letters is based on a P-40 Warhawk Squadron in the PTO (Pacific Theatre of Operation) during WWII; specifically the 8th Fighter Squadron operating in New Guinea. My dad served with a 5th Army Air Forces air depot unit at various locations in New Guinea during WWII.
