This painting and “Mystic Ice” were two pieces I did for the 2016 Minnesota State Boys’ and Girls’ hockey tournaments. Both scenes were set on Lake Winona in southeastern Minnesota along the Mississippi River valley bluffs. A group of youth hockey players and coaches from Winona got together to skate and model on a perfect, snow-free sheet of ice.
